Shaun Brisley began his career with Macclesfield Town, progressing through the youth system before making his senior debut for the Silkmen against Notts County in March 2008.

He made another nine appearances during the 2007/08 season and he scored his first senior goals to give Macclesfield a victory against Accrington Stanley.

Brisley became a regular for the Silkmen over the next three-and-a-half seasons as he made 133 appearances for the club.

In February 2012 Peterborough signed Brisley on loan with a view to permanent deal. He made 11 appearances for the Posh during the 2011/12.

In the summer of 2012 he made the move to Peterborough permanent. He featured regularly in the Championship for the Posh during his first full season, making 31 appearances. Peterborough were relegated that year but Brisley kept his place in the side during the following campaign with 32 more appearances.

However, despite begging last season as  a regular starter, Peterborough loaned Brisley out to Scunthorpe. He made seven appearances for the Iron during a two-month spell.

Brisley then returned to London Road and he played 11 times for the Posh.

After beginning this season as a substitute, Peterborough loaned Shaun out again, this time he joined League Two side Northampton Town.

Brisley played 10 times for the Cobblers including an appearance against the O’s in the 1-1 draw in September.

He has not played first team football since the end of October due to injury but Kevin Nolan has moved to add the out-of-favour defender to his squad.

Brisley is eligible to make his Orient debut against Cambridge on Saturday.
