Leyton Orient have provided an updated squad list for the upcoming 2017/18 season.

The O’s currently have just 15 players under contract ahead of the new season, four of which are third-year scholars. David Mooney is the sole new arrival so far this summer and at the age of 32, he is very much the senior figure at present. The second oldest player in the squad is Charlie Grainger, who is still only 20-years-old.

Grainger has signed a new deal to keep him at the club until 2019 as did Michael Clark earlier this summer.

Sam Alderson, Charley Barker, Dan Happe, and Rian Mclean have also agreed third-year scholar terms.

No fewer than 20 players have left the club this summer.

Victor Adeboyejo and Sandro Semedo have turned down new contracts, as did Michael Collins who has opted to retire from football.

Yvan Erichot, Teddy Mezague, Tom Parkes, and Robbie Weir have exercised their relegation release clauses that were in their contracts. Gavin Massey has also taken that option and is reportedly attracting interest from League One clubs Portsmouth, Wigan, and Bradford. Jordan Bowery and Liam Kelly also invoked their release clauses and they have already sealed moves to League Two clubs Crewe Alexandra and Coventry City respectively.

Alex Cisak, Nicky Hunt, Jens Janse, Callum Kennedy, and Freddy Moncur are all out of contract but they are yet to secure new clubs.

Nigel Atangana and Ollie Palmer have agreed contracts with League Two sides Cheltenham Town and Lincoln City respectively. Paul McCallum will be playing against the O’s next season as he has signed for National League side Eastleigh.  Sammy Moore will also be playing non-league football after agreeing to become player-manager at Isthmian League Premier Division outfit Leatherhead. Ulrich N’nomo has also found a new club, he has joined Portuguese Second Division side Gil Vicente.

It is clear that there is much work to be done in terms of recruitment ahead of the new season. New Director of Football Martin Ling will no doubt be very busy in the next few weeks, not only working to bring in new players but also a new manager.
