Leyton Orient have appointed Justin Edinburgh as new Head Coach on a two-and-a-half year contract. The 47-year-old’s last managerial role was with Northampton Town. He has been out of work since leaving the Cobblers back in August.

Edinburgh began his playing career with Southend United and he made also 5o senior appearances for the Shrimpers. In January 1990 Tottenham manager Terry Venables brought Justin to White Hart Lane for a £150,000 fee.

Edinburgh would go on to make over 200 appearances for Spurs during ten years at the club. He left in March 2000 to join Portsmouth in a £175,000 transfer.

After three years at Fratton Park, Edinburgh left to become player/manager at Billericay at the age of 33. He ended his playing career while at the club.

He continued to manager non-league clubs such as Fisher Athletic, Grays Athletic, and Rushden & Diamonds.

Edinburgh achieved success with his fifth club Newport County as he led them to promotion to the Football League via the Conference Premier play-offs in 2012/13 and was named  Conference Premier Manager of the Year.

During his time with Newport, Edinburgh attracted attention from Portsmouth and Northampton. He eventually made the step up to League One in February 2015 when he was appointed as Gillingham boss. He managed the Gills up until January this year when he was dismissed.

Ten days later, he took over at fellow League One club Northampton Town. Edinburgh oversaw a 16th place finish to the season. However, he was sacked by the Cobblers in back in August following five consecutive defeats.
